Boxing is one of my favorite sports in the world. It took a blow in recent years, but it’s something I always and will always watch. I am also a fan of mysteries and conspiracy theories. Some of my favorite movies are included in these genres and boxing has always been known as a sport that is not always fair and full of conspiracies. What happens when you take boxing and you put it in the middle of a conspiracy that has nothing to do with the sport itself? You get the plot of a movie called Snake Eyes.
Snake Eyes is about a dirty cop named Rick Santoro (Nicolas Cage) is for one night at the fights. He is joined by his American friend Navy Commander Kevin Dunne (Gary Sinise), who escort U.S. Secretary of Defense Charles Kirkland (Joel Fabiani) to the fight. The conspiracy begins once the Secretary of Defense is assassinated during the main event. When the officer Santoro see things he was not supposed to see, he began to ask questions he is not supposed to ask. It becomes even more deeply into the plot when he encounters a young woman (Carla Gugino) who may hold valuable information about the tragic events of the night. All this could cause problems for many people, he and his friend Kevin Dunne, who is crucial mistake may have led to the assassination attempt succeeded.
Nicolas Cage plays his character as an eccentric, high volume and energetic person. He does well, but it comes off as cartoony at first. So it does play in a higher how much of the early scenes, he manages to calm down a bit when it’s requested.
